Infosys Appoints Vishal Sikka As CEO
The country’s second biggest information technology company, Infosys, appoints former SAP executive Vishal Sikka as the new Chief Executive Officer and managing director with effect from August 1, 2014.
Vikas Sikka was a member of the Executive Board of SAP AG and the Global Managing Board, heading all SAP products and innovation. His global responsibilities included development and delivery of products including applications, analytics, cloud, database & technology and mobile.
Infosys Executive Chairman Narayan Murthy and his son Rohan Murthy will be stepping down on June 14, 2014. However, Narayana Murthy will continue on the board till October 10 as Non-Executive Chairman.
Shares in Infosys Ltd gained 3.8 percent in value-buying on Wednesday, according to Reuters. The stock has fallen 6.03 percent after the announcement of the general election results on May 16, as against a 7.5 percent rally in the Nifty.
