The much-awaited DSC 2009 results the exam for recruitment of District Selection Committee-09, would be announced at 4 pm Today.

Over six lakh candidates appeared for the examination to compete for 52,625 teacher posts in 19 categories.

First phase of counselling to begin on July 4

In the merit list there were nine students those scored 200/200.

There are 1,483 seats in government medical colleges and 348 seats are part of the government quota in private medical colleges. Another 560 seats are available with private, self-financing medical colleges in the State.

The cut-off mark for OCs alone this year is 197.25. Last year’s cut-off was 196.75. The other cut-off marks will be announced later. A total of 85 BDS seats are available in the Government Dental College and 783 seats are available in 11 private dental colleges.

The first phase of counselling will begin on July 4 and go on till July 9. The candidates will be called as per merit, and allotted seats of their choice, based on availability of seats and colleges, following the rule of reservation. Individual call letters will also be sent to the students.

Many would ask where Baby Shamili is now. After watching Shalini in the films and as wife to Ajith, many would recall her younger sister Shamili who made her presence felt in bigger way as child artiste

It is generally supposed that child artistes turn into lead stars after they grow up. Baby Shamili, who wowed audiences with her superlative performance in the Mani Rathnam directed ‘Anjali’ as a mentally challenged child, seemed to defy the rule. The film, which is touted to start rolling in the first week of October, is being produced by DVV Danayya under the banner Universal Media.

We already know that her sister Shalini stopped acting after marriage. Now Shamili also enters the acting league in her family.

We have lost the Pop Sensation Michael Jackson :Cover Story

Legendary mega popstar Michael Jackson has passed away on 26th June 2009 at the UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles due to cardiac arrest. 50 year old Jackson was suffering from skin cancer and was on heavy medications.

Jackson, who had lived as a virtual recluse since his acquittal in 2005 on charges of child molestation, had been scheduled to launch a comeback tour from London next month. The world’s biggest-ever music stars had sold 75 crore albums.

Movie Review: New York (2009)
New York: Is a must watch

Omar (Neil) is picked up by the FBI and detained for arms found in his owned taxi. Basically it’s a well planned set up by FBI officer Roshan (Irrfan) and his boss to get Omar agreeing on to work as an undercover agent for them and infiltrate the family the life of Samir (John) and Maya (Katrina) who were Omar’s college friends 7-8 years back. Roshan suspects Samir of running a sleeper terrorism cell and he wants to nab him red handed. Omar is left with no option but to comply with Roshan’s orders but he agrees on one condition that the FBI won’t kill Samir if he agrees to surrender. Years back when in college Omar, Maya and Samir were thick buddies and Omar silently loved Maya but when she expressed her love for Samir, Omar had gone away from them. What truth Omar uncovers when he meets Samir and Maya both now a married couple with a small kid Danielle and what it all leads to forms the rest of the film.

New York can easily be considered the best film to come out of the Yash Raj stable after Chak De India. Shot entirely in the US, the film not only is on par with the best of the Hollywood films made in this genre but is a completely different experience which the Bollywood audience is not used to. You are completely hooked from the first scene of the film when Neil is arrested by FBI and the interrogation that follows by Irrfan of Neil’s. The first half is extremely well narrated and keeps you constantly guessing as to what will happen next. The interval point is a shocker and you look forward to an exciting second half. But then the pace of the second half somehow doesn’t match up that of the first half and there are some predictable things in store. But nonetheless it is packed with some really great moments. The whole frisking episode of Katrina Kaif by a cop on the road late at night and the sequences that follow it linger on your mind for long. The climax though a bit word heavy is superbly shot as well. The torture scenes shown immediately post the interval send a shiver down your spine. Pritam’s music is easy on the ears and there are no lip sync songs to hamper the proceedings.

New York scores high in the acting department with each single actor delivering his/her best. John Abraham often termed as an expressionless actor has delivered his career’s finest performance. Katrina Kaif has finally got the meatiest role of her career and she has taken full advantage of it. She is very good in emotional scenes as well. Neil in a difficult part shines. Irrfan Khan never disappoints and here again he is in great form. His scenes with Neil and also his senior officer have turned out well.

New York takes up a topical theme and perfectly exposes the wily ways of the American FBI to which over hundreds of innocent Muslim people had fallen prey to post 9/11. It is a must watch for many reasons so just don’t miss it.

King of Pop Michael Jackson's Sudden Death

Michael Jackson has died after suffering a fatal heart attack at the age of 50 on Thursday June 25th. The Thriller legend was taken to hospital earlier today after frantic aides found him unconscious at his mansion in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles.

Medics administered CPR en-route to L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai hospital to try and keep him alive, but he was totally unresponsive. After just a few hours in a coma, Jackson died as his family members, including his mother and brothers, rushed to be at his bedside.

The seventh child of the Jackson clan, the singer shot to fame as part of The Jackson 5 at the age of 11, alongside his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon. Due to his stunning vocals and dancing ability, Jackson became the stand-out star of the family group, and launched his solo career in 1972 with the release of Got to Be There.

It was announced in February this year that the star would be making a stage comeback for a 50-date residency at London’s 02 Arena. Jackson was reported to have pulled in $75 million (£50 million) from the dates, to aid his dire financial situation, following the foreclosure of his Neverland Estate to service a loan Jackson owed on the property. Experts feared the star wouldn’t be well enough to perform at the shows after reports leaked he was suffering from skin cancer. Only last month, the superstar cancelled the first week of the tour, insisting he needed more time to prepare for the extravaganza.

What’s it all about?

Sneha’s dad (Charan Raj) notes that Sushanth is totally irresponsible, and Sneha asks Sushanth to change his attitude for their love but Sushanth says he’d not. This leads to their separation. Sneha comes back to him and admits he created love in her mind and thus he should take it off too. What happens next forms the rest of the story.

Hindu Temples and Sites in UNESCO World Heritage List

Prambanan Temple Compounds in Indonesia – The 10th century Prambanan Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are also temples dedicated to Lord Brahma and Vishnu and to the vehicles of the Trimurtis. The highlight of the temple is the Illustrations from Ramayana.

Angkor Wat Temple in Cambodia – The largest Hindu temple in the world was built during the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. Angkor Wat Temple, the Bayon Temple and the countless sculptural decorations are part of the Angkor Archaeological Park.

Vat Phou and Associated Ancient Settlements within the Champasak Cultural Landscape in Laos – Envisioned by the rulers of Khmer Empire, the Champasak cultural landscape, including the Vat Phou Temple complex, was shaped to express the Hindu vision of the relationship between nature and humanity, using an axis from mountain top to river bank to lay out a geometric pattern of temples, shrines and waterworks extending over some 10 km.

Katmandu Valley in Nepal – It consist of the Durbar Squares of Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu), Patan and Bhaktapur, the Buddhist Stupas of Swayambhu and Bauddhanath, and the Hindu temples of Pashupati and Changu Narayan.

Ancient City of Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka – Temples built by Cholas during the 11th and 12th century is dotted with Hindu temples and deities. The architecture of the Hindu temples had a greater influence on the Buddhist temples in the region.

Ellora Caves in India – The 34 monasteries and temples at Ellora dating from A.D. 600 to 1000 are dedicated to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.

Meira Kumar : 1st Woman Lok Sabha Speaker in India

INDIA'S newly elected parliament started is first session on Monday. On monday the parliament is all set to elect the country's first ever woman speaker Meira Kumar.
PM Manmohan Singh, said he hoped that this parliament would function in a proper way without any disruption, protests and adjourments.

Meira Kumar entered electoral politics in 1985 and was elected from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh defeating Ram Vilas Paswan and Mayawati, two powerful dalit leaders of today. She was a member of the eleventh and twelfth Lok Sabha's from Karol Bagh in Delhi. She lost her seat in the BJP wave of 1999, but was able to get reelected with a record majority from her father's former constituency of Sasaram in Bihar in 2004 and again in 2009.

She was inducted into the Manmohan Singh cabinet, as Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in 2004 and is presently the Union Minister for Water Resources. She is the presumptive nominee of the ruling UPA government for the position of Speaker of the Lok Sabha. If elected, she will be first women speaker of the Indian Parliament.

Saina Nehwal : Saina Nehwal wins Indonesian Open

Ace woman shuttler Saina Nehwal on Sunday scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win a Super Series tournament after she clinched the Indonesian Open title with a stunning victory over higher ranked Chinese Lin Wang in Jakarta.

Saina clinched her maiden Super Series title beating Wang 12-21, 21-18, 21-9 in an edge-of-the-seat thriller that lasted 49 minutes.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers in Arizona and everywhere else!

This year it’s the 100th anniversary of Father’s Day, and boy, have things changed!
Here’s a little background on the day from the press release announcing a ceremony in Washington state to honor the woman who came up with the idea in 1909:

In a special Father’s Day ceremony on June 20, Sen Jim Kastama, D-Puyallup, will honor the Washingtonian whose efforts sparked the establishing of an annual Father’s Day in Washington and across the country.

“Until Sonora Smart Dodd spoke up, Americans celebrated Mother’s Day but no one gave any thought to honoring the contributions of fathers,” said Kastama, the foremost advocate in the state Legislature for shared parenting. Kastama’s legislative proposals have long promoted greater parental involvement by estranged fathers and flagged the increasing incidence and disadvantages of children raised with little interaction with their fathers. “Sonora Smart Dodd appreciated her father’s pivotal role is raising her and her five brothers, and she wanted to recognize his dedication as a single dad,” he said.

Kastama, in turn, will honor Dodd by placing a wreath on her grave site to mark the centennial of the first Father’s Day celebration since Dodd persuaded the Spokane Ministerial Alliance to honor fathers locally with a special day.

Though she had suggested June 5, her father’s birthday, the soonest church officials could schedule a day was the third Sunday in June in 1909. The following year that date was adopted nationally, and over time the holiday was formalized by a series of actions by presidents Woodrow Wilson, Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon.

Saturday’s ceremony also honors Dodd’s father, William Smart, who raised Sonora and her five brothers by himself after the death of his wife, Ellen Victoria Cheek Smart, during the birth of their sixth child. Years later, upon hearing a church sermon about the newly installed Mother’s Day, Dodd was reminded of her reverence for her father and felt fathers deserved similar recognition.

Nayanatara in MMS Clip

An MMS clip is being widely circulated, where South Indian top actress Nayanatara is shown indulging in intimate physical activity with Tamil actor Shimbu.
Since some time, there are wide-spread rumours in the Southern film field about the romance between Shimbu and Nayanatara, though both denied any intimacy between them. Now, this MMS is causing lot of embarrassment to the actress.
Two big budget films starring Nayanatara, Kuselan and Satyam in Tamil Kathanayakudu and Salute in Telugu are due for release in a couple of weeks.
Nayanatara has filed a police complaint against this MMS circulation. She alleged that the MMS is a morphed clip and urged the police to take action against those who are responsible for this outrage. The actress claims that this vulgar propaganda is being carried out by her rivals, who are jealous of her, because she is the highest paid heroine in the South.
Earlier, similar type of clippings involving actresses Trisha, Jyothika and Namitha were also on the MMS circuit.
