Khatta Meetha Movie Online | Khata Meetha Movie Review | khatta meetha movie online Free Download
I wish I could at least call “Khatta Meetha” a mindless comedy but it isn’t even that. Priyadarshan has thrown in oodles of melodrama and dollops of attempted-morals in a film that is for the most part intended to be a funny political satire. The film has a struggling hero, corrupt elder brothers, sarcastic sister-in-laws, a righteous patriarch and eve-teasing politicians, reminiscent of B-grade Hindi film sagas from the 1970s.
Akshay Kumar is a road construction worker struggling to make it big like his dishonest brothers. Initially it seems like honesty is the only impediment to Akshay’s road ahead but as the film progresses you realize that he is not that honest after all. Then why does he try to reiterate again and again to his elder brothers that they are successful only because they are unscrupulous?
The narrative is all over the place, an item number here, a song sequence there, lots of drama, an attempted suicide, an alleged murder and a brutal death of the villain, and Priyadarshan seems to think his job is done. Where is the finesse with which he made us laugh and cry in “Billu” or the psychological thrill and the seemingly unintended comedy that was there in “Bhool Bhulaiyaa”?
You will manage a few laughs because Akshay’s and Rajpal Yadav’s comic timing is instinctive. But other than that the film seems like a never-ending ordeal. Trisha is a total misfit and her lip-sync seemed off in a number of places. The rest of the cast is the usual ensemble that you see in most of Priyadarshan’s Hindi films. They do a reasonable job considering they can do little to overcome a very bad script.
The film is a remake of the Malayalam political satire, Vellanakalude Naadu (1988) which was a huge success but the problem is something that worked in 1988 has a limited chance of working today unless the director effectively repurposes the original story. It’s a huge letdown from a director who we know is capable of much more.

The Big Fat Indian Wedding
Bollywood has become a cultural industry that is being actively projected as the “New India”. A very significant influence that Bollywood has had is the commodification or the “Bollywoodization of the Indian wedding.”
Gone are the days when ostentatious weddings were considered an embarrassment in a country where a huge section of the population was struggling for a meal a day. Weddings these days are marked by excessive expenditure and the new wedding industry has emerged complete with wedding planners who create the perfect “mise-en-scene”, organize designer wardrobes, arrange for choreographed dancers and manage the wedding like a high-profile media event.
Planning a wedding and planners who make this possible are part of the booming wedding industry. It is not merely about decorating the mandap anymore, it is whether you prefer a palace wedding to a beach wedding or would you rather head to the mountains to exchange the sacred vows. If you prefer a beach wedding, then would you want a fun wedding in Goa or a romantic one in Kovalam?
Once you have decided on the destination, the bride has to choose the look that she will go for before she starts shopping for her trousseau. The big decision is whether she should go for the complete Bollywood-ishtyle bridal deck-up like Katrina in “Singh is King” or the minimalist look that Kajol sported in “My Name is Khan”.
Homestays are passé; the big fat Indian weddings don’t really live up to their expectations unless the stay is arranged at a resort somewhere or better still, at a heritage hotel. It has to be a weekend getaway planned to precision which has to have something for everyone from our traditional joint family who have cared enough to make it to the D-day. Some of the must-haves are a swimming pool for the teenagers, a secret room for the youngsters to drink and smoke and have a bachelor’s party of sorts, and enough recreation for the elders to ensure they don’t kick up a ruckus during the wedding.
Once the basics have been taken care of, the post-production is essential too – coordinating with the great Indian wedding photographers (and their brilliant ‘photoshopping’ skills) and also helping the to-be ‘just-married’ couple with their honeymoon plans. Choreographing the not-so-graceful cousins to dance to Bollywood numbers is also a task in itself.
With all that goes into planning these picture-perfect weddings and making it a day to remember for years to come, the least one can hope is that they last long enough to be worth their while. We need to sometimes remind ourselves that all the extravagance only makes sense when it marks the beginning of a beautiful journey together.

The audio of Ravi Teja’s ‘Don Seenu’ was launched in a grand style. Telugu film personalities like Dr Dasari Narayana Rao, D Rama Naidu, SS Rajamouli, Anushka, Ravi Teja, Sunil, Srihari, SV Krishna Reddy, Sagar, Gopichand Malineni, Atchi Reddy, Suresh Reddy, Kona Venkat, Shayaji Shinde, Ramajogayya Sastry, Surekhavani, Kasthuri, etc., attended the function.
The event started off with the cheque presentation of the total amount of Rs 10 lakh was given away to social welfare institutions, poor film artists and technicians. Each of them was given a cheque of Rs 50,000 each.
The cheque presentation was followed by the audio CDs launch by Dr Dasari Narayana Rao, who released and presented the first copy of it to Ravi Teja. The audio cassettes were released by D Ramanaidu and its first copy was received by Srihari.
Later addressing the gathering Dasari Narayana Rao said, “It’s surprising to note that RR Movie Makers are donating such large amounts for the needy at their every audio function. A Film Employees Federation for the promoting the film artists’ kith and kin have already been started by us. Now after watching this donation programme, I decided to attend any film related function provided they donate some amount to our Federation. Despite my telling our heroes to do film after film for the benefit of our film industry, it has become a style for our big heroes to take a break of 3 to 4 years after doing a film. But much contrary to them Ravi Teja is one hero who does 2 to 3 films a year. I appreciate Ravi Teja and Srihari who came up to this level only with their hard work. Can one imagine the position of ‘Magadheera’ without Srihari. I wish director Gopichand Malineni for his debut film to become a grand success.”
Immediately after the completion of Dasari’s speech film presenter Atchi Reddy and co-producer Suresh Reddy presented him a cheque of Rs 1 lakh for the Film Employees Federation.
Kona Venkat while speaking, “The story of ‘Don Seenu’ is about an ardent fan of Amitabh Bachchan. Although we decided to surprise Ravi Teja by inviting the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan to this audio function, unfortunately his health refused him to allow him to travel. Therefore he sent a message by sending his ‘Best Wishes’ to the entire team. Yet another interesting thing is the title ‘Don Seenu’. Initially before the official announcement of the title, by hearing to the name everyone guessed the hero as Ravi Teja. So this is aptly suitable title for Ravi Teja only.”
Srihari said, “The reason for my agreeing to do this film is the concept. I needn’t have to tell about Ravi Teja. He is a big star as you all know. You all can take it as my word that this film will become a super duper hit.
