Lashkar Bonalu is the most significant annual utsav celebrated in Ashada masam at Shri Ujjaini MahaKali Temple in Secunderabad Andhra Pradesh. In 2011 the date of Ujjaini Mahankali Bonalu is July 17, Sunday and the Rangam will be celebrated on July 18 Monday. Ashada Bonalu Jathara one of the biggest festivals in Telangana is dedicated to Goddess Mahanakali. Bonalu at Ujjaini Mahakali temple is a two day festival.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the celebrations. Special police battalions are deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
Lashkar Bonalu celebrations have begun with much fervor and piety on Sunday morning at the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple with hundreds of women thronging the shrine carrying bonams on their heads. Large queues were witnessed from early in the morning. Several eminent personalities along with other devotees have been visiting the temple since morning.
Clad in traditional attires potharajus Telangana folk dancers danced on the street to the beats of the popular folk songs.
