Lok Satta Jayapraakash Narayan presents Anti-Curruption bill

Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan (JP) presented a draft Bill to amend the Prevention of Corruption (Andhra Pradesh) Act to Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy in the Assembly on Wednesday.

JP appealed to the government to introduce the Bill in the legislature in the budget session. The Bill if adopted would deem MLAs, MLCs, elected members of panchayats, municipalities and municipal corporations as public servants and bring them under the purview of the Corruption Act.

The amendment Bill integrates recommendations, guidelines and suggestions of 166th Law Commission Report and the second Administrative Reforms Commission’s fourth report for eradicating corruption at all levels. It provides for attachment and seizure of property during investigation and forfeiture of property if the accused was found guilty. Its other recommendations were special court in every district, autonomy to ACB and effective power to Lok Ayukta and the Vigilance Commission.

JP said corruption reduced where technology and transparency was introduced and all it needed was political will and application of law.
