The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday
arrested a Deputy Commissioner of Income-Tax Department at Tirupati for
allegedly receiving Rs.3 lakh in bribe to forgo additional tax
liabilities on two doctors.
According to the CBI, the
I-T officer had demanded Rs.5 lakh from the chartered accountant of the
doctors to close the cases against them. He was allegedly receiving the
first instalment of Rs.3 lakh at his office when a CBI team nabbed him
