Samsung 9 Series laptops unveiled at CES 2011 in Las Vegas
Samsung Electronics was founded in 1969 in Daegu, South Korea as Samsung Electric Industries, originally manufacturing electronic appliances such as TVs, calculators, refrigerators, air conditioners and washers. By 1981, the company had manufactured over 10 million black and white TVs. In 1988, it merged with Samsung Semiconductor & Communications.
It is noteworthy that Samsung Electronics has grown in leaps and bounds in a business notorious for cyclical fluctuations. Founded in 1938 as a food processing and textile purveyor, the parent group entered the electronic business as late as in 1969 when it created under its wings an electronic component subsidiary. It was a decision made after considering the fast-growing domestic demand for electronic goods.
Samsung 9 Series
The new 13.3-inch 9 Series laptop from Samsung is said to weigh only 2.89 pounds. It measures just 0.68-inches at its thickest point. In comparison with the MacBook Air which is 2.9 pounds heavy and 0.11 to 0.68-inches thick, the duralumin machine seems like a good rival. But does it have what it takes to actually compete with it?
Samsung 9 Series Specs
Samsung went overboard trying to cram as much as possible but still keeping the slim design. It looks like they’ve done it.
While there’s no optical
drive, the 9 Series notebooks brag with Ethernet, HDMI, and USB ports, as well as a headphone jack. Regarding it’s processing power, it runs on a brand new Core i5 2537M processor, has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage space.
Other specs include a 400 nit LED-backlit keyboard
and two 1.5-watt speakers packed with a sub-woofer — which is nothing short of sexy if you ask us.
