Auto-connect Download scheduler PC-Gyaan

Auto-connect Support page

Auto Connect Download scheduler can be used to automate the way you connect to internet. Automate your download tasks by scheduling them, so that you can sleep in peace!

Ideal for limited bandwidth users who download during happy hours.

> Schedule system wakeup, broadband connect and disconnect tasks.

> Schedule application run tasks, application close tasks.

> Schedule system sleep task.

> Now supports Always on type connections too.

Auto connect is a 32-bit program which have been tested on windows XP.

Compatible with NT, 2000, XP.

For first time users:

If you are running this application for the first time, follow this procedure –

Note: It is to be taken care that while scheduling tasks, the time is in 24 hours format and also that the default date shown is date today. Hence, if you are scheduling a task which is to take place tomorrow morning at 2 am, remember to change the date a day ahead.

And it is obvious that if time is already past 12 midnight, and a task to be run at 2am, date need not be changed.

* If you use a bridge connection (connection requiring a user name and password), on first run, enter the connection details, i.e. service name, user ID and password, as you have set in network connections. This saves your details that will be used to dial you connection when scheduled. Always on users can check the check box that you use always on connection to skip this. Also enter your user account password of your PC if any.

* Run the Schedule a broadband connect task and schedule a task with wake up just at beginning of free hours, like 02:03am . Set the time and the date, taking care to change the date in case you plan the task to take place tomorrow.

Note: Always On mode users don’t need this. Instead they should schedule an application run task (enabling wakeup) to run their modem reboot module, just a few minutes after the start of free hours. This refreshes their tariff into free.

* Run the schedule an application run task and set the time and date. Drag and drop the file or shortcut of file you want to be run to the box given. This file can be your download client or your torrent client.

* Run the schedule an application close task wizard, scheduled to close at end of free hours and drag drop the same file in given box. This will close your download client (torrent client) as set, a few minutes before end of happy hours.

* Run the schedule a disconnect task wizard. Now schedule a daily disconnect task, if you are a limited plan user downloading in happy hours. The daily disconnect task cuts your connection at time a few minutes before end of happy hours as scheduled.

Note: Always On mode users can’t disconnect this way. They should again schedule a modem reboot task using application run wizard, to run a few minutes before end of free hours. This makes sure what all you downloaded isn’t charged.

* This can be followed by a sleep task to hibernate the PC.

If at any point of time you change your connection details or set a password on your PC, you can edit your user details, go to settings.

Caution: After scheduling the downloads, don’t TURN OFF your PC, hibernate it, so that it can wake up at scheduled time. Turned off PCs cant be waken up. By default, when you install the application, hibernation is turned on. To hibernate, click on turn off button in star menu and when the window appears, press hold the SHIFT key, the stand buy button changes to hibernate. Now holding the shift key, press the hibernate button to hibernate.

Tweak you torrent client:-

* Open your torrent client and go to settings\options. In TASK settings, select the option – ” Avoid system entering sleep\suspend mode when task running “. Apply. This will prevent your system from going to standby or hibernation when it’s idle during downloads.

* Also in the same section, select the auto-resume tasks at program startup. This will make tasks start downloading when your PC wakes up at scheduled time and runs the client.

* Also, go to built-in scheduler of bitcomet and set the download schedule time, like enable downloads during 2am to 8 am, and disable during the rest, this is for happy hours users. This will avoid downloads to run during off the happy hours period, even if you let the client run.

Note: When you add torrents, select the download now option or start the pending downloads after setting the schedule, later exit the client, with tasks still set as running, this will make sure that the tasks auto resume when PC wakes up and runs the application.

Since you set the download schedule in the client scheduler, though you start the tasks, download doesn’t start. Also, you can do this with internet disconnected too; the motive is to keep the tasks started before exiting the application, so that they auto resume on wake up.
