India’s Govt. owned the Corporation Bank has announced Q1 2010 Results today on Thursday. Corp Bank has reported net profit is increased by 28% and healthy growth in fee income and net interest income  (NII).

Corp Bank reported that net profit is rises by 27.76% (approx 28%) at Rs. 333.78 crore for the quarter of ended 30 June, 2010 and it was Rs. 261.25 crore last year for same period.

Fee Income increased by 29.23% at Rss 162.10 crore and NII is increased by 49% at Rs 659.59 crore. Other side the Trading profit is decreased to Rs. 13 crore, it was Rs. 185 crore last year.

Bank also reported that the Mangalore based bank has registered loans more than other it is increased year by year to 36.78%  and deposit increment was 26.21%.

Corp Bank Chairman and Managing Director J.M. Garg said that, “After the implementation of the base rate, all the loans which were priced around 4.5-5 per cent are now re-priced at 7.75-8 per cent. That will give us an interest income of Rs 300 crore.”


Bank Bombay  Stock Exchange (BSE) closed on Rss 565.10 points which is down to it’s previous close at 0.15%.

A C-17 cargo plane crash in Alaska is confirmed by the Air Force.

The Air Force confirms that four people were on board when a military C-17 cargo plane crashed on Wednesday. The location of the C-17 crash was Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage. The Air Force at a news conference would not comment on whether the passengers survived the crash.

Air Force confirmed the plane was on a training run. This is the Base’s worse air crash since a 1995 event took the lives of 24. Other reports claim this is the first fatal crash for the C-17 since it went into circulation nearly a decade ago. The time of the crash reportedly was 6:30 PM local time, just outside of Anchorage. Anchorage Fire Captain Bryan Grella described the sound and smoke of the crash. “It was a big, gray plume of smoke, and I saw a fireball go up in it.”

Air Force Lt. Gen. Dana Atkins said he beleived “nobody escaped” from the crash. “It’s likely there are fatalities involved in this mishap”.

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU), named after the famous Tamil Scholar Professor P. Sundaram Pillai, was established on 7 September, 1990 to cater to the long felt needs of the people of the three southern most districts of Tamil Nadu namely Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari.

They were looking steady with Sehwag beginning in aggressive fashion, ably supported by Vijay.

But he attempted to bring up his century with a blazing shot and was beaten by the flight and stumped by Prasanna Jayawardene as Randiv claimed his first Test wicket with his first ball of the day.

Ajantha Mendis then stepped up to the plate to deal India a further blow, trapping Vijay plumb lbw for 58.

RBI Credit Policy | RBI First Quarter Review of Monetary Credit Policy 2010

At 11:45 pm IST – by their own criteria responded positively to the RBI in the credit policy, but with a slight profit. It seems that the markets have already discounted a hike in key rates. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) raised the repo rate by 25 bps to 5,75% from the current 5.5% and increased the reverse repo by 50 bps to 4,5% from the current 4%.

The ratio of cash reserves was kept unchanged at 6%. RBI has increased the GDP growth forecast to 8,5% to 8% and the forecast inflation rate to 6% from 5.5%.
While responding to a sharp increase in rates of ICICI Pru says, RBI tries to normalize policy rates and controls the inflation and economic growth. He does not see a change in interest rate on deposits in the year.

Sensex was at 18082, which for 62 points and Nifty was at 5434, up 15 points. Nifty Future July was trading at 9 points premium and August next at 17 points premium.

Shares of oil and gas, machinery, automobiles, cement, banking and financial companies and the metal support markets. Nevertheless, sales remained in the L and T, NTPC, BHEL, Bharti, GAIL, Jindal steel bearing Powers, Axis Bank, Unitech and Reliance Communications.

JSW Steel, SBI, Bharti Airtel, L and T, “ICICI Bank and Maruti Suzuki were the most active shares on stock exchanges.

In midcap space, MVL, ING Bank Vysya, Godrej Properties Manappuram and Apollo Hospitals have increased by 3-7%, while Mahindra Holiday, optoelectronic circuits, Clariant, Jubilant Org and Bajaj Electrical lost 2-6%.

In the smallcap space, Dolphin Offshore, Shirpure Gold, Honda Siel, Action Construction and REI Six Ten were 5-13.5%, whereas Gulf Oil Corp, LGS at the global, Intra Infotech, Century “Enka and Maharashtra Polybutenes fell 5-13 %.
